68 ACRES OF BETHEL BEAUTY!
This size tract is becoming a rarity in Watauga County. There are fewer and fewer larger parcels available particularly if they have any attributes that commend them. This land lays gently. From the middle one can take a fork in the road to the lower or upper portions. The lower fork descends to a rushing stream in a bold forest. The upper route reaches to an old roadbed that runs the ridgeline. From here great views are available with some pruning. Land this lovely won’t last at $6,500/acre. Come see this one today and we’ll be reserving your tranquil future in the mountains tomorrow. DIRECTIONS: 321 W to Bethel Road, turn right, go to Beaver Dam Road, turn left, go to Courtney Lane turn left, to to end. Turn left go down driveway approximately 200 feet to locked gate on the right at access road. Walk approx 1/4/ mile to property line.

LUXURY TOWNHOME CLOSE-TO-BOONE!
There are many condominiums on the market in this price range but none I’ve seen more finely appointed. It’s very convenient right off Hwy 105 & Bairds Creek only minutes from Boone, Valle Crucis and Blowing Rock. Walk to golf or just watch off your deck! The views surrounding this home are truly magnificent from any window and of especially from the deck. I wasn’t fully aware of that until walking into the home. What really struck me was the quality the moment I crossed the threshold. Walking in I was stunned by multiple forces. The luster of the hardwood floors reflecting the sunlight coming in through the great room windows, the expansiveness of the kitchen/great room suite, the framing divider between, the height of these soaring ceilings – all combine to make a statement of class. Looking more closely you’ll note with appreciation the deep, rich six-panel hardwood doors, the crown molding, the meticulous and rich trimwork. Look out of the kitchen windows and see the mountains. Walking into the great room give an impression of a somewhere more like Switzerland than North Carolina. Striking also is the amount of glass admitting the out-of-doors along with a veritable bath of sunlight. On cold days the gas log hearth imparts a cozy atmosphere and plenty of warmth. I love the design of extra window panels above the lower banks which admit the crest of the ridgeline beyond. On a summer day walk out onto the covered porch to breathe the fresh forest fragrance, feel the cool mountain breeze on your face and enjoy the beauty being outside in the mountains. From the great room one can also enter the master suite. Another large space with gorgeous hardwood floors and a private entrance to the deck. The master bath includes a large soaking tub and separate nicely glassed stand-up shower. Beyond is a separate water closet and large walk-in closet. Upstairs we find the gracious upper beds and bath. These beds are abundant in size and the bath fixtures quite attractive. When you walk through this home with me you’ll appreciate the interior quality, beauty of nature and convenience to town. Call or e-mail me today and we’ll introduce you to irresistible quality tomorrow. BRAND NEW & EXQUISITE ? ONLY $266,000!
I’ve known Russell Campbell the contractor who built this home, for a long time. Russell is from the old school of construction. He builds each home with a pride in its construction quality and interior amenities that is redolent of a bygone time of craftsmanship and honor. When you walk into this home you will thunderstruck with a cavalcade of quality that will leave you spinning in revery. And the compelling aspect is that it is for sale for $266,000! He’s building this for the middle market and not reserving it for the elite few who can afford the million dollar home in a gated community. Let’s start with the lot. The land itself sits atop a magnificent knoll commanding views to the south of Grandfather Mountain and pans north as 421 heads toward Zionville. Continuing one’s gaze, one can see a full 360 panorama. And though the view is remarkable, one doesn’t sacrifice ease of access to get there which is so often the case. Furthermore, when you arrive, the ground is gentle if not flat surrounding the home with plenty of ground for recreation and outdoor entertaining. No steps to climb with your groceries (also unfortunately too often the case in the mountains!) upon returning to this lovely home. Just walk right in. No stairs inside either – all one level living. After parking, stepping out and absorbing the phenomenal view, you’ll walk onto the covered front porch and absorb the grandeur of the Brazilian Cherry Front Entrance. Not many builders would invest $2,500 into this one of a kind entranceway! And notice how he’s finished it differently on the inside to complement the interior woodwork. Let’s cross the threshold. Once inside you’re hit simultaneously by the extraordinarily rare and exquisitely beautiful walnut hardwood floors while the cathedral ceilings and transverse beams are pulling your vision upwards. At the same time you’re struck by the gorgeous quality stone masonry on the chase climbing upward from the hearth. These stones were laid by Mark & Ricky Lawrence who are known in the high country for their quality stonework. Windows on both sides of the chimney flood this friendly space with natural sunlight. You’ll love the wainscoting all along the walls of the great room. And above that climbs sheetrock with a tasteful knockdown finish. This blend of tongue and groove and knockdown sheetrock ensure a mountain ambiance with an abundance of light as it bounces off the lighter sheetrock. While your visual sense is overloaded the scent of fresh cut hardwood and all the tongue and groove overwhelm your olfactory nerves. This home just screams log cabin in the mountains. Yet it’s actually log-side which is a distinct advantage because Russell’s been able to insert lots of insulation inside the walls and ensure a warmer home. The day my son Matt and I were there it was bitter cold outside and windy. Inside the gas logs were radiating warmth at us and giving us all the comforts of home. Part of the utilitarian functionality of this home are the Pella windows sealing the warmth in and the cold out. Russell also has chosen the best subcontractors in the high country for areas beyond his expertise. When it came to selecting his HVAC contractor he chose Edmisten Heating and Cooling for his 8000 BTU heating system. The high country is not known for its hot summers. Just a few miles east of us, off the mountain you’ll see sweltering temperatures in the summertime while we’re cool 70’s, mountain breezes and sleeping under blankets at night. But on those rare occasions when it’s warmer than you might like this home has central air conditioning to complete your c

TEN ACRES OF PERFECTION IN BETHEL
I’ve always loved the beauty and natural mountain grandeur of the Bethel Valley in Western Watauga County. Everything here, the land, the people are gentle, peaceful, easy and delightful. When we moved here in 1994 from Chicago we moved to Todd and our son soon befriended a classmate from Bethel. He spent many a day and evening on the land in Bethel and soon raved that when he grew up and raised a family he would do so in the Bethel Valley. My son Matt has never stopped talking about his first hunting experience with a good friend right on this land! They'd lay up in a little cabin next door. He talked about the smell of the woods and how many deer and wild turkey were all about. He loved the camaraderie of being outdoors with a good friend at first light on a crisp November morning in the mountains of Bethel. He loves Bethel! It’s easy to see why. Driving west from Boone along Hwy 321 you follow the spectacular Watauga River Gorge toward the lake. Crossing the river north into Bethel we emerge into an extraordinarily wide valley for land in the mountains. As we enter the valley we’re tracing the shoulder of bucolic Beaver Dam Creek which you can do for miles. It reminds me in a way of the large Western Colorado valleys with tall distant ranges surrounding. Probably three miles along Bethel Road and the winding Beaver Dam Creek we come to Stone Mountain General Store where social life expresses its unique character at the warm, radiating wood stove in winter with its welcoming fragrance of wood smoke. Here you can get anything you need and find out anything you want to know about Bethel. The North Carolina Blue Ride Mountain General Store is a quintessential piece of Americana but much more so a defining element of Appalachian mountain culture. Not every valley has one and they radiate an indescribable unique charm. I think of it as America, the way it used to be, nostalgic simplicity, circa 1900. When you’ve driven along the hayfields, streams and road-crowding barns of the Bethel Valley for just a short way there’s no denying you’ve entered a special realm. Slow down, observe, feel and experience the wonder of being in a place of such genuine and special character. You may never find a setting more magical. Just a short drive on is Farthing Lane on the left where this land lies. As you climb these hills of north Bethel Valley great views emerge to the south including Beech Mountain and parts of Grandfather. Driving in, notice the seclusion and peaceful woodedness of the land. Most of this ten acres lies off to the right. Access all along Bethel Road is of course paved, state-maintained and follows the lovely Beaver Dam Creek all four and a half miles in from 321 all of which is a picturesque mountain route made for a magazine. Driving in on Farthing Lane you’ll notice the road is very serviceable and the woods quiet and secluded. About two-tenths of a mile in you’ll come to the graded drive that climbs gently to the knoll. With a few loads of gravel you’ve got a fine, serviceable road. You’re at the top in a couple hundred feet. In winter you’ll be bowled over with the commanding view of Bethel Valley south. Further along are majestic views east. The land lies so gently up here. You sense the peace of this place. As you walk the gentle mountain back north you gradually climb this pleasant knoll until magnificent views emerge. Here on the north end all the land south is yours so you can cut views to your heart’s content. With septic and water rights, all that you need is here. If you’re looking to return to the simple, the beautiful and the natural y
